I have taught scoring for media for over four years at the collegiate level, including courses in Film Music Business, Film Music History, Film Score Orchestration, Music Technology, and Music Theory.

Learn how synchronize music to picture, the different functions of film music, and how to compose in a variety of musical styles.

Music Technology & Production
Learn how to get the most out of your DAW and create realistic orchestral mock-ups with sample libraries, as well as creating a variety of sounds with various synths and plug-ins. Other topics covered may include MIDI programming, template creation, and recording live instruments.

Music Theory & Harmony
Learn the foundational elements of all music, whether it is concert music or music for media. Topics covered may include Counterpoint, Form, and Post - Tonal Theory.

Orchestration
Learn how the instruments in the orchestra function and how to write for them in notation software. Non-orchestral instruments may also be covered.

Learn the business side of composing, covering topics like dealing with contracts, networking, and personal brand marketing.

I work in Logic Pro, which is only available on Apple computers.
What notation software do you teach in?
I work in both Sibelius and Dorico.
What equipment do I need?
A Mac computer, a MIDI keyboard, and sample libraries.
Are there any musical requirements?
Basic musical knowledge (read music, identify chords, basic keyboard skills) is necessary.
